About Hyperion 3360
Hyperion is a robotics club participating in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). It is hosted in La Montée public high school in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada. The club was founded in 2010, so every year since then our team is always ready to face new challenges. Hyperion is the fourth oldest team still active in Quebec. With every passing year, we come up with innovative ideas for every robot to enhance its capabilities. Every year, there are new challenges, new mentors and new members, whom are just as motivated as the previous ones. Our team never backs down from a challenge and we always try to find ways to accomplish it no matter how difficult. We will never stop pushing for better performance in and out of competition, making each robot better and more original than the last. We strengthen the bonds between members and STEM, as well as the one between themselves.
Values
Autonomy:
We often put autonomy in the spotlight. We are in constant evolution, so we encourage members to learn as much as they can by themselves, with the support of our mentors.
Learning:
Learning is the core of our team. Every year, new members join, and the ones who are above 18 become mentors to share their passion for robotics as well as their knowledge.
Helping each other:
Lending a helping hand is very important in our team, because everyone has their role, but all work towards the same goal. We are always there for each other to work through both good and rough times.
Perseverance:
There will always be losses and wins, but the most important part is to keep going. It might be tough, but nothing is impossible if you keep trying. Our motto is in fact: “there are no problems, only solutions”.
Creativity:
We make use of creativity in every part of the team, whether in advertising, in creating new systems or in solving various problems. It is in fact a skill that is cultivated in members to rapidly think of solutions and to innovate.
Our Mission
Our mission in Hyperion 3360 is to share the fun and opportunities that STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) can provide. We aim to teach our members about whatever interests them; we offer workshops for mechanics, programming, electricity and media & advertising. Whatever the field of interest, we always encourage creativity. It is important to have a critical and creative mind to solve problems or polish our projects.
Hyperion also offers a sense of belonging to students and mentors. Every year, at the end of the season, we have a gathering where we celebrate our accomplishments as a team as well as individual ones. In Hyperion, everyone is just as important to the realization of our robot, and everyone is equally respected. We work as a team so that we can achieve our goals.
